Texas Round Up

I've been training to run the Texas Round Up!  It's a 10K, 5K, and a 1 mile family walk/run.  I ran in the Round Up (along with 6,000 other people) and we (Richard, me, and Hannah) ran the family 1 mile.  It was Hannah's first race and I think she got bit by the race bug.  She had the best time and even received a medal when she crossed the finish line!

I'm planning on running 1 or 2 more 5 K's in May before it gets too HOT!

Sweet Berry Farms

We ventured to Sweet Berry Farms (http://www.sweetberryfarm.com/) in Marble Falls to pick some strawberries Saturday morning.  It's about an hour away from Austin, but so worth the drive.  We got there early so we would get the best pick!  When we got there, there were TONS of strawberry plants, TONS!  We worked our way through 1 row and filled our picking basket (and at 2.75/lb we wanted to make sure we didn't fill that thing up!)  Hannah could hardly wait to eat them.  I washed off four strawberries and before we got back to the car she had eaten them.  They were so juicy!  She had red juice all over her hands, face, and shirt.  If you get a chance, you

must go visit.

What will your garden grow?

We're trying to introduce Hannah to the concept of growing things that she can eat.  I wish I had more of a green thumb so I could grow more things that we could eat.  I would love to grow tomatoes, avocados, strawberriers, blueberries, cilantro, onions, potatoes, carrots, and spinach.  Hannah found some seeds at Home Depot that she wanted to plant (strawberries, tomatoes, and either cucumbers or carrots **I can't remember, and I guess we'll find out soon enough**).  She was so excited to look in the "garden" to see her plants growing.

Happy Easter!

We had planned a big family Easter get together, but because several members of the Diggs clan was plagued by the tummy bug making it's way around Austin we decided to post-pone the big gathering.  We spent some time with the "cousins" followed by a relaxing Sunday of yard work, laundry, ironing, and nap time.  (When did she get to be so big?!?!)

Because I can't resist the previous years Easter pics.......

Jeep

Sterling (or has Hannah affectionately calls him "Jojo") has a jeep.  He and Catherine invited me and Hannah to go to Snow Beach (snow cone place) downtown.  We jumped in the jeep (me, literally, jumped in) and we buckled Hannah in the car seat and off we went.  She must have really liked or been really tired as she fell asleep going and coming!

Butterfly House

The first Saturday of each month Home Depot has a Kids Club where they build something.  This month was a butterfly house.  We showed up at 10 hoping to be one of the first one's so Hannah could get the coveted orange apron, but no luck....it started at 9 and they had run out.  I was sad.  I want her to own her very own orange Home Depot apron.  We gathered our materials and began to build.  Hannah (again) was more interested in telling Richard how to build and stack orange buckets.  She did like using the hammer (as Richards' finger found out)!  We can't wait to see what we're building next month!
